Sealants

High-performance sealants: The hidden key to durable insulated glass units

In the glass industry, the performance of an insulated glass unit (IGU) doesn’t rely solely on the glass or the spacer — it also depends on a key yet often underestimated component: the quality of the sealant.

The sealant plays a crucial role in the durability, airtightness, and thermal efficiency of every IGU.

A high-quality sealant is the guarantee of a product that delivers on its promises — for you and for your customers.

Polysulphide 2 components PS1000

  • Two component Insulating glass sealant based on polysulfide polymers.
  • Very good adhesion to glass, aluminum and stainless steel surfaces.
  • Very low gas and water vapour permeability.
  • Very long life concerning elastic characteristics.

Packaging
Available in pail (19 liters) Part B and drum (191 liters) part A

HotMelt HM1000

HM1000 hot melt butyl insulating glass sealant is formulated from the highest quality synthetic polymers and elastomers, butyl rubber and resins to deliver outstanding adhesion to glass and metal/plastic spacers when applied as an edge seal to multiple glazed window units.

The high performance sealant has been specifically and exclusively developed for insulating glass manufacturers. It’s fast flowing, low stringing and quick setting properties make it ideal for IG producers requiring the ability to handle and move sealed units within a short time of production.

HM1000 is resistant to degradation from UV light, temperature extremes and exposure to water.

Packaging
Available in drum (170 liters)

Reactive HotMelt RHM1000

RHM1000 hot melt insulating glass sealant is a solvent free, reactive, one component.

It is formulated from the highest quality synthetic polymers and elastomers, modified butyl rubber and resins to create highest adhesion to glass and metal/plastic spacers and to tinplate and stainless steel, both physically and chemically.

RHM1000 is used for Intercept®, Super Spacer® or box spacers, where chemical bounding is required.

Desimelt DM1000

Desimelt DM1000 is the premium insulating glass hot melt sealant designated for Intercept®.

The synthetic polymer based matrix contains desiccant in the formula for drying the inner air space, offering an ideal thermal insulation with a perfect bounding and adhesion to metal surface while providing an automated production application.

Packaging
Available in drum (225 Kg)

Polyisobutylene sealant PIB1000

  • One-component, solvent free thermoplastic insulating glass sealant based on polyisobutylene which does not harden.
  • Exposure to heat results in significant softening.
  • The maximum final strength is only achieved after processing in a press. This results in physical adhesion.
  • Very tight to water vapour, argon and sulphur hexaflourid.
  • Adheres to all surfaces commonly used in the insulated glass industry such as glass, aluminium, or stainless steel
  • PIB1000 is used as a primary sealant in combination with a secondary sealant used in the manufacturing of insulated glass sealant.

Packaging
Available in box of 4 slugs (7.4 kg/slug)(29.6 kg/box)
